For the second time in 2021, Mackenzie Dern will step into the UFC cage on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 194.

In what will be her eighth fight with the promotion, Dern will face Marina Rodriguez, who sits one spot behind her at No. 6 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie strawweight rankings.

Dern’s career to this point has been an interesting one. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist has racked up four first-round finishes in the UFC using various submission techniques. Her striking is steadily improving as well, which is an area her opponent excels, making this matchup an interesting clash of styles.

If Dern is able to pass this tough test on Saturday, can we finally say she is a legitimate title contender? If so, do we see her as a champion of the strawweight division in the future?

Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of Mike Bohn and Matthew Wells discuss these topics along with panelist/host John Morgan.
